Introduction to disposable peripheral blood lancets

Disposable peripheral blood lancets are medical devices used for collecting blood from peripheral sites of the human body. The following is a detailed introduction:

Structural composition

Needle: Typically made of stainless steel, it possesses a certain degree of rigidity and has a sharp tip, enabling it to pierce the skin quickly and effectively, thereby reducing patient pain.

Needle hub: It connects to the needle, facilitating handheld operation. Some blood lancet hubs also incorporate a spring mechanism, enabling automatic ejection for blood collection, such as the commonly seen pen-type blood lancets.

Protective cover: Used to protect the needle from contamination and preventing it from puncturing others before use. It needs to be removed before use.

Specification and model

Specifications are typically distinguished based on the thickness of the needle and the depth of puncture. The thickness of the needle is denoted by G, where a higher number indicates a thinner outer diameter of the needle. For example, a 30G needle is thinner than a 21G needle. The depth of puncture varies according to different needs, with options such as 1.8mm and 2.2mm available.

Product Features

Sterility: Strict sterile processing, such as ethylene oxide sterilization or irradiation sterilization, is carried out during the production and packaging process to ensure that it will not cause infection during use.

Single use: To avoid the risk of cross-infection caused by repeated use, it should be disposed of properly as medical waste after use.

Easy to operate: The design is simple and easy for medical staff or patients to operate independently. Some blood lancets can be operated with one hand, enhancing the convenience of use.

Mild pain: With a sharp needle tip and shallow puncture depth, coupled with correct operation methods, the stimulation to skin nerve endings can be reduced, resulting in mild pain for the patient.

Scope of application

It is primarily used for blood collection from peripheral sites such as fingers and earlobes, and is suitable for testing projects that require small blood samples, such as blood glucose monitoring, blood routine examination, and micro biochemical testing.

Precautions

Before use, it is necessary to check whether the packaging of the blood lancet is intact and within its expiration date. If the packaging is damaged or expired, it is strictly prohibited from use.

Strictly follow aseptic operation guidelines. The blood collection site should be disinfected with iodophor or alcohol, and allowed to dry naturally before blood collection.

After blood collection, a sterile dry cotton swab should be used to press and stop bleeding. Avoid rubbing the puncture site to prevent subcutaneous ecchymosis or infection.

Disposable peripheral blood lancets are strictly prohibited from being reused. After use, they should be immediately placed in a dedicated sharps box for medical waste and disposed of by professionals.

How to use a blood lancet

Blood lancets are specialized medical devices used for collecting blood samples. They must be operated by professionally trained medical personnel (such as nurses and doctors) in medical institutions (hospitals, clinics, physical examination centers, etc.) in accordance with standardized procedures. Individuals are strictly prohibited from using them on their own, as improper operation may lead to risks such as infection, uncontrollable bleeding, and tissue damage.
